Château Ferney-Voltaire

Ferney-Voltaire, a city steeped in history

In the Pays de Gex, the town of Ferney-Voltaire unveils the treasures of history. Benefiting from a privileged location, positioned between the mountains of the Jura and Geneva, its history is defined by the philosopher of the Enlightenment who moved here, seduced by its tranquillity, and spent 20 years here contributing to the development of the town that today bears his name. The town is of significant heritage interest and many buildings are classified as historical monuments, including the imposing château, Voltaire’s residence, with its superb French garden.
